Your Legacy... Upland's Future

At Upland, we realize that the school is dear to the hearts of alumni, parents, grandparents and friends.
Please consider Upland as you plan for the future and the future of your heirs. A planned gift enables you to become part of the school's commitment to our students and community for years to come. Your gifts help maintain standards of excellence at Upland, and preserve it for future generations. Imagine how your legacy will live on, supporting and enhancing the education of students and enabling them to help transform tomorrow. With a planned gift, you can make this happen. To learn more about planned giving, please contact our Development Office at 610-444-8114.

The Value of Shared Caring

Depending on your goals, circumstances and the gift type you choose, you could increase your income, decrease your estate tazes, or receive a tax deduction for items you can no longer use or no longer want to maintain.

For instance...

Individual Retirement Account (IRA)

In 2015, Congress enacted a permanent extension of the IRA charitable rollover. This rollover allows taxpayers over age 70 ½ to make tax-free charitable gifts of up to $100,000 per year directly from their IRA to eligible charities, including independent schools. As you plan your required distributions for this year, please consider making a charitable gift to Upland Country Day School, using the IRA Charitable Rollover.

List of 3 items.

  • Benefits — qualified charitable distributions

    • Can total up to $100,000 and count toward your required minimum distribution for the year from your IRA.
    • Are not included in your gross income for federal income tax purposes on your IRS Form 1040 (no charitable deduction is available, however).
  • How an IRA charitable rollover gift works

Contact your IRA plan administrator to make a gift from your IRA to the Upland Country Day School. Ask if they require a specific form for Qualified Charitable Distributions. If not, for a sample letter requesting a direct charitable distribution from your IRA, please contact the Development Office at 610-444-8114. Your IRA funds will be directly transferred to Upland to help us continue our mission.
  • To Qualify

    • You must be age 70½ or older at the time of gift.
    • Transfers must be made directly from a traditional IRA account by your IRA administrator to Upland Country Day School.
    • Gifts must be outright. Distributions to donor-advised funds or life-income arrangements such as charitable remainder trusts and charitable gift annuities do not qualify.

Our community needs to ensure that Upland continues to foster young lives in an environment rich in integrity, creativity, caring and challenge. Fiscal needs are ongoing -- whether it is emerging technology, property maintenance or faculty and curriculum development. For these reasons, I have chose to support the Upland Endowment through a planned gift and I encourage all who treasure Upland to join me.
